Stampin' Up! Merry Moose Easy Christmas Card

How cute is this moose? I realize moose are large mammals, capable of reaching the weight of 1500 lbs. (680 kg), but this little guy is endearing. For this card, I used the Merry Moose Bundle that includes the Merry Moose stamp set and the Moose Punch.

This is a simple and easy card -- several of these can be made in a short amount of time, so it is perfect for making batches of Christmas cards. Here is how I created this card.

PROJECT RECIPE

Ingredients

  • Stamp Set(s): Merry Moose

  • Punch: Moose

  • Dies: Stitched Shapes Dies

  • Cardstock: Early Espresso, Crumb Cake, Whisper White

  • Ink Pads: Mossy Meadow, Soft Suede

  • Designer Series Paper (DSP): Gilded Autumn

  • Adhesives: Multipurpose Liquid Glue, Stampin’ Dimensionals

Tools

  • Your Base Supply Kit: paper trimmer, paper snips/scissors, bone folder

  • Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine (die cutting machine)

  • Optional: Stamparatus, Sponge Dauber

Techniques

  • Stamping Off / Generation Stamping

Measurements

  • Card Base: Early Espresso measuring 5 ½” x 8 ½” scored at 4 ¼”

  • Car Front Base / Mat Layer: Gilded Autumn DSP measuring 5” x 3 ¾”

  • Whisper White: 3 ½” x 3 ½” for die cut circle

  • Crumb Cake: approximately 2 ¼” x 2 ¼” for stamped moose

  • Crumb Cake: scrap trimmed to ¾” x 1 ½” for sentiment

  • Optional Inside Layer: Whisper White: 5 ¼” x 4”

INSTRUCTIONS FOR ASSEMBLY

Prepare Your Cardstock

  • Cut/trim/score all cardstock and DSP as described above

Stamp Trees & Die Cut

  1. Using Mossy Meadow ink, stamp the largest tree once on a piece of scrap paper, then stamp the second generation in the center of the 3 ½” x 3 ½” Whisper White cardstock, creating a lightly colored tree.

  2. Ink up the largest tree in Mossy Meadow again and stamp in full color (first generation) to the left of and slightly lower than the first tree.

  3. Ink up the largest tree in Mossy Meadow again and stamp in full color (first generation) to the right of and slightly lower than the first tree.

  4. Run your stamped trees through the die cutting machine using the largest circle from the Stitched Shapes Dies

Stamp Moose and Punch Out

  1. Stamp the Moose outline stamp from the Merry Moose stamp set in Soft Suede on the 2 ¼” x 2 ¼” piece of Crumb Cake cardstock

  2. Punch the moose out with the Moose Punch

Stamp Sentiment

  1. Stamp the sentiment on a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock – if using a piece of scrap, trim the cardstock to ¾” x 1 ½”

  2. To give the sentiment a little pop of dimension, use a sponge dauber to apply Soft Suede ink to the outer edges of the cardstock

PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER

  1. Adhere the mat layer of Gilded Autumn DSP to the Early Espresso card base

  2. Adhere the circular die cut trees to the mat layer

  3. Adhere the moose to the lower left corner of the stamped trees with Stampin’ Dimensionals

  4. Adhere the sentiment to the lower right corner of the mat later (DSP) with Stampin’ Dimensionals (place about 1/8” in from the right and 1/8” from top)

The project is complete!
