Stampin’ Up! Autumn Greetings Give Thanks Card - Inkin' Krew Blog Hop

Inkin' Krew Team Blog Hop

The card I made for the Inkin' Krew team blog hop featurtes the Stampin' Up! Autumn Greetings bundle. When I saw this stamp set, and the greeting "give thanks with a grateful heart", I knew I had to add this to my collection.

Autumn Greetings Card Tutorial

The theme for this month's Inkin' Krew Team blog hop, led by my Stampin' Up team leader Amy Koenders, is Giving Thanks. It is a fitting theme because it is that time of year that we give thanks, but I make it a habit to give thanks and gratitude every day. I start each of my day by writing in my decorative planner -- listing out my key tasks for the day, a list of meetings, etc., but my favorite component of the planner is the “Daily Gratitude” section. By acknowledging the things that I am grateful for I boost my mental health -- it eases my stress and puts me in a good mood at the start of my day. My daily gratitude list varies day-by-day.

For example, it might be a calm morning and I acknowledge my gratitude for the gorgeous sunrise. Or, maybe I had a great evening the day before, so I write about how grateful I am for movie night with my husband. That said, nothing beats the feeling of giving thanks to others--not only is it beneficial for you, but you are also expressing the importance of that relationship with the other person. Your gratitude will inevitably bring a smile to their face and it will strengthen your bond together. And what better way is there to give thanks to others? Making a card and sending it out-of-the-blue. The element of surprise makes the sentiment much more meaningful -- it is a random act of kindness.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR ASSEMBLY

PREPARE YOUR CARDSTOCK

Cut/trim/score all cardstock and DSP as described above

STAMPING -- SENTIMENT

  • Use the cluster of small leaves stamp from the Autumn Greetings stamp set and stamp the image in So Saffron ink on a piece of So Saffron cardstock. This creates a tone-on-tone custom designer series paper / background image for your sentiment layer.

  • Stamp the sentiment from the Autumn Greetings stamp set in Calypso Coral on the So Saffron sentiment cardstock.

  • Final step for the sentiment: I used a small frame die from the Hippo & Friends Dies, but you can use any frame / label die or punch you have or simply cut your sentiment from your cardstock.

STAMPING -- CREATING YOUR OWN DSP

Use the cluster of small leaves stamp and, in Calypso Coral ink, stamp the image on the piece of Calypso Coral paper in random patterns, covering the sheet of cardstock. Stamping with the same color ink and cardstock is known as tone-on-tone stamping and it creates a custom designer series paper / pattern paper.

STAMPING & COLORING THE AUTUMN GREETINGS FLOWER BOUQUET

First, stamp the bouquet on a piece of Whisper White cardstock (Very Vanilla would look great too) with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Then, color your bouquet based on your preferences. I used a variety of Stampin’ Blends colors (as listed above). Alternatively, you can also use Watercolor Pencils and a blender pen to color your bouquet.

PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER

  1. Adhere the custom DSP layer of cardstock to the cardbase

  2. Adhere the colored bouquet to the custom DSP layer

  3. Adhere your sentiment using Stampin’ Dimensionals

  4. Adhere the final piece of Whisper White (5-1/16” x 3-9/16”) to the inside of the card

  5. Optional - Inside the Card: I used the same cluster of leaves and the Calypso Coral ink to create a stamped border around the layer of Whisper White cardstock. I stamped another sentiment from the stamp set on the inside as well.

  6. Optional - Envelope: decorate your envelope for that extra special touch

The project is complete!
