Stampin' Up! Tasteful Touches Just Saying Hello Card - Sunday Stamps Challenge

This card was created using the Stampin' Up! Tasteful Touches Stamp Set and the Stampin' Up! Stitched Shapes Dies and the masking technique. I've entered this card in the Sunday Stamps challenge -- this week is a card sketch challenge.

Sunday Stamps Challenge "SSC244 In the Middle"

This is the sketch I followed to create my card.

CARD RECIPE

Ingredients

• Stamp Set(s): Tasteful Touches

• Dies: Stitched Shapes

• Cardstock: Basic Gray, Gray Granite, Whisper White

• Ink Pads: Merry Merlot, VersaMark Ink Pad

• Embossing Powder: White Stampin' Emboss Powder

• Embellishments/Ribbon: Pearl Basic Jewels

• Adhesives: Multipurpose Liquid Glue, Stampin' Dimensionals

• Other: Pencil, Red Rubber Eraser

Tools

• Basic Supply Kit: paper trimmer, paper snips/scissors, bone folder

• Heat Tool

• Take Your Pick (optional)

Technique(s)

• Masking

• Heat Embossing

Cardstock Layers and Measurements

• Card Base: Basic Gray measuring 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" scored at 4 1/4"

• Layer #1: Gray Granite measuring 5 1/4" x 4

• Layer #2: Whisper White measuring 5 x 3 3/4

• Inside Layer: Whisper White measuring 5 1/4" x 4"

Masking Technique: The masking technique is used to cover a section of your stamped image(s) to prevent overlapping ink from a nearby stamped image or ink blending. Masking protects your stamped images from overlapping ink – it gives the appearance of one stamped image in the foreground (or in front of) another stamped image. This makes your card look realistic – it gives it depth.

How do you use the masking technique? It is very simple! After you stamp your first image, use something to cover the area such as a sticky note or a low tack piece of tape.

Design Overview for this Card

For this card, my goal was to place a die cut oval in the center of the card with stamped floral images in the background. To do this, I used the masking technique, but first I used the oval die to determine where it will be placed and lightly traced the die. This gave me a guideline for the placement of my stamped floral images.

Instructions for Assembly

1. Prepare Your Cardstock: cut/trim/score all cardstock and/or DSP as described above

2. Determine the location for your stamped location (see above for how I did this); for this card, I used a pencil to lightly trace the area that will be covered up by my die cut oval, creating a guide for the placement of my stamped flowers

3. I stamped the top left and top right floral images, on the Whisper White cardstock, then masked the stamped florals with sticky notes before stamping the second set of flowers

4. I repeated step #3 to add a third set of stamped florals

5. I then erased the pencil lines with a red rubber eraser

6. Die cut the oval from a piece of Rococo Rose cardstock

7. Stamp the sentiment on the oval with VersaMark, cover with white embossing powder, tap off, and heat with heat tool to melt the embossing powder

8. Adhere the oval to the stamped cardstock in the in the area where I had the traced shape

9. Adhere the Whisper White panel to the Gray Granie cardsotck with liquid glue, or the adhesive of your choice

10. Adhere the Gray Granite layer / panel to the Basic Gray card base with liquid glue, or the adhesive of your cohice

11. Decorate the card front with pearls

12. Inside Panel: stamp/decorate the inside layer / panel of Whisper White cardstock and with liquid glue, or the adhesive of your cohice
